Storj is a decentralized, S3-compatible cloud object storage service that encrypts, erasure-codes, and distributes data across a global network of independent storage nodes. It targets cost- and privacy-conscious teams, backup and archive workloads, and developers who want S3-API compatibility at substantially lower cost than hyperscalers. Its distributed architecture provides end-to-end encryption, resilience, and the ability to geofence data (for example within the EEA) for GDPR compliance. Storj's core network software is open source under AGPLv3 (with client libraries under Apache 2.0). It claims SOC 2 Type 2, GDPR, and HIPAA compliance.
