HashiCorp Vault is a secrets management tool for storing, accessing, and dynamically generating secrets, with encryption-as-a-service and fine-grained access control. It is aimed at engineering teams securing credentials across systems, and supports dynamic secrets with leasing and rotation. Vault is available as a free, self-hostable Community Edition under a source-available license, as well as a managed HCP Vault service that includes a free developer tier. It holds SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance. Its dynamic-secrets model lets applications obtain short-lived credentials on demand rather than relying on long-lived static secrets.
